I only recommend a few tried and tested spy apps on this site – I take some pride in the fact that I don’t just give a thumbs up to any app …. unlike some others. Read my in depth mSpy Reviews and FlexiSPY reviews pages to see what Teensafe is competing against – before making any decision.
Every parent wants to make sure that their children are safe in all aspects of life. With technology becoming more and more expansive as the days go by, it can become easy to be worried about what your child does on his or her smartphone.
Of course, you want to be able to trust that your child knows what to do on the internet, however, no matter how well versed your child is in the art of staying safe online, he or she simply might not have the experience to do the right thing.
This is something that every parent fears. Thankfully, there are some ways to help quell this fear. For instance, you could consider getting an app to monitor your child’s cell phone activity. There are many such apps out there, but not all of them specialize in keeping your teenager safe online quite like TeenSafe does.

What Is TeenSafe?
As the name might suggest, TeenSafe is a cell phone spy app that you can have installed onto your child’s phone so that you can monitor what your child is doing online. TeenSafe is actually somewhat unique in the sense that you don’t have to jailbreak your child’s phone to get it working properly.
However, by not jailbreaking your child’s phone, there are some limitations to what TeenSafe can monitor and record. As with many cell phone tracking apps, TeenSafe can monitor texts, calls, and a few other messaging apps.
It can also record the location of the device and where the device has been. In addition to this, it can also handle storing the history of web browsing, bookmarks, and contacts as well.
This makes TeenSafe a capable cell phone monitoring app, but there are some things you should be wary of. Before you look at where TeenSafe’s shortcomings are, you should first look at where TeenSafe excels.
What Does TeenSafe Cover?
TeenSafe can cover many different areas of cell phone monitoring. These areas include:
● Incoming and outgoing calls
● Location tracking and monitoring
● Browsing history
● WhatsApp and KIK messages
● Text message monitoring
You can monitor both incoming and outgoing calls, as well as the call history itself. When you look at what TeenSafe says, you will also be able to see whether or not the caller is in the contacts of your child or not. For unknown callers, it will only be the number that shows in the log.
With this feature you will be able to see who your child is calling (and who is calling your child), how long your child is spending on the phone, and when these calls are being made. If you have a policy where there are no phone calls after a certain time, having such an app will be perfect for reinforcing such a rule.
If you want to know where your child is, then TeenSafe is a wonderful app for this. After all, most kids keep their phones with them at all times. What better way to keep track of where your child is than by tracking his or phone?
This feature of TeenSafe uses the built-in GPS locator of the phone to report the exact location. While this is a wonderfully useful feature, there are many more apps that provide more capabilities than just being able to know where your child is.
With smartphones, using the internet to browse the web is something that everyone does, including your child. By being able to see which websites your child is visiting, you can rest assured knowing that you will be able to spot if your child is going to any unsafe, dangerous, or unallowed websites.
When you do check which websites your child has been on, you will be able to see the time and date that your child accessed the site, as well as how long he or she stayed on that site.
There are many social media apps out there, and WhatsApp and KIK are two major ones. Both of these platforms, as you might be able to imagine, are messaging apps that allow you to send messages, images, and videos. The only real difference between the two is that KIK doesn’t require you to put in a phone number, which means your child will believe that he or she has more anonymity, which can affect the actions the child takes.
However, with TeenSafe, you will be able to see what your child is saying, although it is TeenSafe’s policy not to include images or videos from the chat session, which is something to note when you are looking at these apps.
Last, but certainly not least, is the feature of being able to monitor your child’s text messages. Not only will you be able to see what your child is saying, but you will also be able to see deleted conversations as well. You will be able to check what your child said and what the recipient said as well.
The only issue is the same one as with WhatsApp and KIK. TeenSafe’s policy simply means that it will not display images or videos that your child has sent. While it can be understandable why a company would have this policy, it can dampen how well you can monitor what your child is saying.
With all that being said, you might wonder where TeenSafe falls short.
Where Is TeenSafe Lacking?
The biggest and most prominent issue that you might have with TeenSafe is that it simply doesn’t cover some of the largest social media apps, including Facebook Messenger, SnapChat, Line, Viber, and Skype. This is because you don’t need to jailbreak your child’s phone to install the app.
Jailbreaking a phone, to put it simply, removes some of the data limitations set by the phone’s operating system. And, because of this, since TeenSafe doesn’t require Jailbreaking, it is physically incapable of monitoring these types of apps.
This is something that can easily pose problems to your ability to monitor what your child is doing and saying, and it is something you will need to keep in mind when you are searching for a capable phone monitoring app.

How Much Does it Cost?
These apps are almost never free, and if they are, you should stay away from them. However, TeenSafe does allow you a seven-day free trial for you to test on your child’s phone while you see if it has all the capabilities that you need to monitor your child’s actions. Keep in mind that after this trial, you will automatically be billed.
The cost of TeenSafe comes out to $14.95 per month, which is a decent price for a phone monitoring app, but a little bit expensive considering the limitations of TeenSafe. This company does sometimes have promotions and sales, which means that for the long run, it might be less expensive to purchase an annual contract, instead of a monthly one.
If you find that you are unsatisfied with TeenSafe and you want to cancel, you need to keep in mind that you need to cancel your subscription at least 24 hours before the billing date, or else you will be charged. This is in the policy of TeenSafe, and while it can be troublesome if you forget these types of things, it is easy to work around.
How Do You Install TeenSafe?
Installing TeenSafe is easy, although the process differs based on the type of phone you are installing it on. It is significantly easier to install when you are working from an Apple device than an Android device, but it is still really simple to install it on an Android device.
For iPhones, you will simply need your child’s AppleID and the password for that account. Once you have that information, you will just have to log into Apple, and then look to TeenSafe’s dashboard and enter the information that it asks for.
Once you have done this, information from the iPhone will be pulled directly and you will be able to begin monitoring your child from the TeenSafe app. For location tracking, your child will have to have turned on location tracking on the phone for this to work.
For Android phones, it’s going to be a little bit different. Instead, you will have to go into the control panel of TeenSafe to send a text message to your child’s phone. You, or your child, will have to click the link in that message so that the TeenSafe app downloads onto the phone.
If your child is worried about it, you can reassure him or her that the app will have absolutely no presence on the screen and will be completely undetectable.
Because you will have to either get your child to open their text messages or get the password off your child’s AppleID, you might have to sit down and have a talk with your child about the use of spyware. However, there are many people, both parents and professionals alike, that agree that talking to your child beforehand about installing such an app will not only keep relations as smooth as possible, but will also help your child accept such an app.
Talking to Your Child About Spy Apps
To get the best experience out of TeenSafe, it can sometimes help to sit down with your teenager and talk with him or her about you using spyware to monitor their actions. Of course, most teenagers won’t be thrilled to hear about such a thing happening, but the response will definitely be better than if your teenager catches you using the app. You can even use this as an opportunity to talk about trust, responsibilities, and the privilege of having a phone in the first place.
Is TeenSafe Worth it?
TeenSafe is a capable phone monitoring app that is relatively inexpensive and can monitor several important areas of your child’s phone use. It can keep track of what your child is saying, save images and videos, as well as where your child is and what your child is looking at on the internet.
However, for the price of almost $15 a month, there are some spyware apps that accomplish more, such as monitoring large social media apps, for a very similar price. To put it simply, TeenSafe is a well-rounded app, but it could definitely be more inclusive. However, if you do not want to go through the hassle of voiding the phone’s warranty by jailbreaking it, this is certainly a phone monitoring app to look at.
